Wedding decoration ideas to make your marquee look stylish

Marquee decoration ideas that will make your wedding win Instagram without blowing the budget

Pinterest is full of ideas that can transform a humble white tent into an Insta-worthy wedding. Lighting, flowers and surprising DIY touches all make a difference, but what are the hottest trends set to turn heads this wedding season? Time to transform your Pinterest board dreams into an affordable reality thanks to these new marquee decoration ideas

Balloons are the new bunting
One of our favourite marquee decoration ideas comes in the shape of a balloon. But not just any balloon. Forget the foil, garish things on weighted strings – leave those for the kids’ birthday parties – wedding balloons right now are opaque, round (this is crucial for maximum Insta-appeal) and come complete with on-trend tassels or pom poms. Choose yours in poppy primary colours for the fun factor or chic white orbs. Cue: a million #upupandaway social posts. The brilliant Bubblegum Balloons are the go-to guys for this – bespoke balloon bundles delivered the very next day. ‘Balloons are quickly becoming the must-have decoration at weddings and we’re loving the array of requests we’re receiving from our brides-to-be,’ says Ellen from Bubblegum Balloons. ‘Whether tying Mr and Mrs balloons to the bride and groom’s chairs, or having an ombré of balloons in the wedding colours behind the top table, balloons help bring to life the couples’ vision of their big day.’  In short, balloons may just be the new flowers.

Hire a wedding tipi
Until a couple of years ago, all that was really on offer for outdoor weddings was to hire a big white tent to use as your blank canvas. And the prospect of turning a plain white cube into a stylish space was somewhat overwhelming. A cooler alternative for rustic garden or field weddings is the giant kata tipi. Companies like Country Tipis have seen a fivefold increase in bookings in the last year, according to founder Richard Knapp who says 90 per cent of enquiries come from couples looking for a more unique, relaxed alternative to the traditional white marquee. You can choose whether you have one, two, three or more giant tipis woven together depending on the size of your party, and with their exposed wooden frameworks they need little more than a set of carefully placed fairy lights to create an awesome backdrop to your big day (think Secret Garden Party-meets-walk-in-the-woods). Country Tipis also provide all the marquee decoration ideas you might want to add – handmade wooden scaffold tables and benches, vintage French wine barrels for drinks’ stands, and a pop-up bar in a repurposed horse box. Wedding Cake Trends From Formal To Rustic

Last year, naked cakes streaked onto the scene with wild popularity. While naked cakes are still fabulous, the most recent wedding cake trends are nothing short of exquisite. Three of the new fashions offer options that pair with themes ranging from formal to rustic.

Watercolor cakes
These cakes take a hint from popular clothing and art styles. Cake makers cover the cake in perfectly smooth fondant. Then they dilute color gel and paint it on the cake! It is fabulous! Designs range from messy color patches to ornate birds, flowers and leaves. The wedding cake becomes more of a form of art than a desert. This technique pairs well with a few simple flowers down the side and no cake topper. You read that right: you won’t have to buy a topper that you won’t know what to do with after the wedding -- and no one will even notice that it’s not there. The new watercolor cakes are elegant and stunning. They are a craze worth looking into.

Drip cakes
These gorgeous cakes are tall cylinders with fondant. The top layer has a gorgeous drip coming off it and trickling down the cake. They look breathtaking with metallic gold or silver drips. This technique pairs well with the new water coloring techniques. Just be sure to decide which decoration will be the focal point, and keep the other minimal. An ombre, watercolored base looks amazing with a drip on top. Drip cakes can look very formal or casual depending on the colors. Adorn a drip cake with simple greenery or a few flowers. These cakes work well with or without a topper.

Metallic is IT
Anything metallic is popular right now in wedding cakes. Bakers are using edible gold leaf or metallic food paint. Choose from gold, silver or rose gold to make your cake stand out and look lavish. Gold or silver accents can tie your cake into the rest of the wedding decorations to create a seamless theme.

Geode cakes
This trend only works for some wedding themes. Cake artists create what looks like an open geode in the side of a tiered cake by using rock candy. Yep, you read right: they make your cake look like you found it spelunking. Fun features of this option bring bright blues or greens into the cake. For a rustic look no one else has seen, try the geode cake. This cake definitely doesn’t need a topper or flowers to adorn it -- the sparkly crystals take all of the attention.

49 Romantic Moon Wedding Ideas

With the solar eclipse coming up on August 21st (you can buy eclipse glasses here for safe-viewing), we thought it was a perfect time to share the latest theme trend for 2018:  moon themed wedding ideas! Read on for the list and be sure to subscribe for the latest.
Hi, loves! Emma here! OK — I’m sitting here, sipping on coffee, listening to my favorite version of Moondance, and dreaming about the best wedding themes coming up this fall and winter.  My favorite: the moon themed wedding trend. I’m so enamored by this trend that I’m calling it the biggest trend for fall/winter 2017 and 2018 weddings.  Starry night weddings come in at a close second, and you’ll see many similarities in the two themes as outlined in this post. The vintage / Art Deco / Gatsby themed wedding inspo is strong in this one;  we envision a rich color palette of navy blue or black with tons of shimmery gold metallic.  Glitz, glamour, dancing under the moonlight, and tons of romantic candlelight.  Imagine walking down the aisle in a night wedding (yeah, it’s a thing!) and having your bridesmaids carry candle lanterns instead of flowers, and fill your tables with these wine bottle lights.
Does that sound utterly dreamy to you? Me too.
For a moon themed wedding, we’re finding couples mixing it up a bit:  a moon themed wedding can revolve around just the moon, or moon phases;  it can connect with moon and stars, planets, galaxies, or constellations.  Or you can skip over the astronomy lesson and head right over to an underlying theme:  “Over the Moon”, “Love You To The Moon (And Back)”, “Fly Me To The Moon”, or “Moondance”, as just a few possibilities.
In today’s post, we’re sharing our favorite moon themed wedding ideas:  moon engagement rings, backdrops, moon wedding invitations, decorations, moon themed wedding cake toppers, art prints, favors, jewelry, and much more.  All handmade!
This is definitely a wedding theme with tons of possibilities;  read on to see our list! Enjoy!
For a moon themed wedding, decide first what type of underlying theme you wish to have.  Want to incorporate zodiac signs?  Starry night skies?  Planets and galaxies?  “Love you to the moon”?  Moon phases?  Moon River?  Fly me to the moon?
